I just noticed this has happened to me. I've rebooted, I've switched usb ports, I've tried logging in as another user. None of this has worked. I also notice this has happened to others, and I haven't seen anyone find a solution. One user said it was solved when he plugged the blu-ray into a usb hub and I tried that. It didn't work.
Tomorrow, I'll move the blu-ray over to my wife's older iMac, but it it doesn't work there, I don't know if that proves the blu-ray is defective or not because other people are having the problem. I really suspect the blu-ray is not defective and apple has screwed something up in their OS, but that's just a guess.

I've got a 27' iMac that doesn't come with an internal drive, so this needs to be fixed. I appreciate any help or suggestions.

PS: I just upgraded to Sierra 10.12 and that didn't solve the problem either. To be clear, the problem was there before the upgrade.
